8:00 AM – 10:00 AM

BHC Large Conference Room

In May, the RAND Corporation published findings from an analysis of $13 billion of hospital spending in 25 states during 2015-2017. The results revealed that, on average, commercial plans paid hospitals 241% of Medicare payments for the same procedures in the same facilities, with wide variation within communities and among different regions. For this Member Meeting, the BHC is pleased to welcome the lead study author, Dr. Chapin White, to discuss national and regional data findings, the impact on health care transparency efforts, and opportunities for employers to take action in achieving higher value.

  • Understand the methodology for using Medicare to benchmark commercial prices for hospital care and how employers nationally are applying this data to inform strategies for contracting and benefit plan design.

  • Discuss next steps for employers to participate in round 3.0 of the study, as well as opportunities to receive custom reporting with plan-specific comparisons for your organization.
