Employer Strategies to Address the Opioid Crisis

In the last decade, the opioid crisis has reached epidemic proportions across the United States, and St. Louis is no exception. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that the total economic burden from the misuse of prescription opiates is $78.5 billion per year in the U.S., which includes the costs of health care interventions, lost productivity, addiction treatment, and criminal justice involvement. The BHC is pleased to collaborate with the St. Louis County Department of Public Health to host a special meeting focused on employer strategies to address opioid abuse prevention, identification, and treatment in the workplace. Join fellow BHC members to learn more about benefit plan considerations, claims data analysis, workplace policies, and alternative pain therapies.
