Midwest Health Initiative

The Midwest Health Initiative (MHI) is a non-profit, quality improvement collaborative facilitated by the BHC that provides a forum where trusted information and shared responsibility are used to improve health and the quality and affordability of health care locally. MHI stewards a unique claims data asset with information on disease prevalence, care quality, and treatment patterns across the St. Louis Region. It also provides a common table where employers can join together with physicians, hospitals, labor unions, health plans, community agencies and consumer representatives to collaborate and identify priorities for improvement.

  National Committee for Quality Assurance

The National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA) offers several physician recognition programs to help patients identify physicians who consistently provide high-quality, evidence-based care.  For five years, through grant funding, the BHC staff has supported local providers in assessing their performance against national quality standards. As a part of this partnership, the BHC assists providers in analyzing internal office practices and taking actions to improve results and their ability to achieve national recognition(s).
